Wii U Sees Massive Sales Boost in UK Thanks to Mario Kart 8

Sure, Watch Dogs may be the "top dog" when it comes to overall UK software sales last week, but Mario Kart 8 was no slouch either, coming in a second place, boosting Wii U hardware sales by a whopping 666%.

According to Chart-Track, the launch of Mario Kart 8 is now the second best launch in the history of Nintendo's karting series. On top of that, the racer boasts the highest first-week sales since Nintendo's tablet-centric console launched back in the fall of 2012.

As far as last week's launch of Watch Dogs is concerned, Ubisoft's new franchise made quite the splash, having the biggest debut week of any new IP in the region. Quite impressive.

Be sure to read our reviews for Mario Kart 8 and Watch Dogs if you haven't already done so. We enjoyed both quite a bit.
