It’s the last day of August and we already have rumors of what games might be featured in the Nintendo Direct September 2022 broadcast. Many have been speculating that Zelda will feature prominently in the upcoming presentation. In fact, Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb believes that not only will a Nintendo Direct be happening next month, but he thinks that it will be “Zelda blowout.”
Rumored date and games list for Nintendo Direct September 2020
On the latest episode of Last of the Nintendogs (posted above at the 11:18 mark), GamesBeat editor Mike Minotti and Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb pontificate on what might be shown at the next Nintendo Direct. First and foremost, Grubb is “100%” certain that there will be a Nintendo Direct in September, though he’s unsure whether it will be a Mini Direct or a full-fledged general Direct. Around the 17:10 mark, he says that the presentation will likely release on the week of September 12th according to “a good source,” perhaps on the 13th or the 14th due to differing timezones. He’s heard rumors that it could arrive the week before that, but he thinks it’s more likely to happen the week after Labor Day.
As for a list of possible games that could be shown, both Minotti and Grubb are most confident in Nintendo revealing remastered HD Zelda ports of Twilight Princess and Wind Waker. Even if Grubb hadn’t heard about these two ports on various boards, he says he would be “speculating that they would be happening right now while we wait for the run up to Breath of the Wild 2.” They also project with lesser confidence that it will show off Metroid Prime Remastered, the actual name of Breath of the Wild 2, the existence of a new Fire Emblem game, the Kid Icarus Uprising HD remaster, and a release date for Advanced Wars 1+2: Boot Camp.
In other news, Harley Quinn season 4 has been confirmed at HBO Max with a writer being promoted to showrunner, and the new James Bond Project 007 game might not arrive before 2025.
