Nintendo has revealed some delicious details on Kirby’s Dream Buffet multiplayer through a new overview trailer. The adorable four-player gameplay as well as the release date were also announced. Now available for pre-order, Kirby’s Dream Buffet arrives exclusively in the Nintendo eShop on August 17, 2022 for the low price of $14.99.
Kirby’s Dream Buffet multiplayer, local co-op, and online features shown off
In the short, three-minute trailer above, there are several options for multiplayer for the game. You can pass a Joy-con over to another player for two-player split-screen local co-op, join a four-player session through local wireless play, or compete in online play with others around the world. It’s unclear, though, whether two people can play online while in local co-op.
The premise of Kirby’s Dream Buffet is that the pink puffball has been reduced to miniature size by the Dream Fork. But that’s okay, because that just means all the sweets are just that much bigger. Much like a Kirby-themed Mario Party session, four different-colored Kirbies compete with one another to eat the most strawberries through races and mini-games.
The basic structure of the game will have Kirbies compete in a Gourmet Grand Prix. This starts off with a race where you attempt to collect strawberries while strategically using powers granted by Copy Foods. In between races, you’ll play a quick mini-game as a bonus stage, and at the end you’ll fight in a Battle Royale where you need to knock opponents off the stage while growing your Kirby as large as possible.
Depending on how many strawberries you’re able to grab, you’ll be able to unlock costumes, cute hats, color skins, and character treats. These treats, in the shape of cookies, chocolates, and candies based on the Kirby series of games, can be used to decorate your own cake.
In other news, The Last of US HBO adaptation has cast brother duo Henry and Sam, and our review for Cult of the Lamb describes the game as “Animal Crossing gone evil.”
