The release date of the much-anticipated Skyrim Together Reborn mod on PC is later this week, but those hoping it is also coming to Xbox or PS5 consoles will be disappointed. The mod will never be released on consoles according to developer Tilted Online, and it will only be supported on certain versions of the PC game too.
Skyrim Together Reborn will be released on PC this week
The Skyrim Together Reborn mod will be released on PC at 16:00 GMT on Friday, July 8. The mod will only be available on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition version 1.6.XXX or above on Steam. The Anniversary Upgrade is not required and the developer even says the mod will likely work better without it. The mod will not be supported on the original version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, any version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition, or any version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR. Skyrim Together Reborn will not be supported on Skyrim Special Edition on any console, including PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, so won’t get a release date for these platforms because Tilted Online says it “isn’t possible to do so.”
The release of Skyrim Together Reborn on Friday is the full release version 1.0. While this release was originally supposed to be a beta, the team made “some last-minute improvements” that pushed it to a full release. Despite this, they do warn the mod “will occasionally crash, some quests will break, there will be bugs.” The aim of the mod is to convert Skyrim from a single-player RPG into a co-op experience for 2-8 players, but bugs are “the reality of making a multiplayer mod instead of having a massive studio like Bethesda make a multiplayer game.”
Friday’s release will also mark the end of support for the old Skyrim Reborn mod, known as Harbor edition or “nightlies” by players. From now on, players will no longer be able to download the old version of the mod, or view a server list or wiki. The new mod will be entirely open source, meaning other players a free to come on board and help to “build on the solid base” of Skyrim Together Reborn.
