Nintendo has confirmed they will be holding a Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase tomorrow, June 28, and players are expecting to see games like NieR: Automata and the Persona franchise during the show. The second Nintendo Direct to be held during summer 2022 will be dedicated to third-party games, so we can expect to see footage of plenty of other titles too.
What is Nintendo Direct Mini and will it include Persona and NieR: Automata?
The Nintendo Direct Mini will be held at 6 am PT tomorrow, June 28. As a “mini” show, it will be shorter in length than a normal Direct, lasting just 25 minutes compared to the normal running length of 40 minutes. The Partner Showcase will focus on third-party games, and various leaks are already suggesting games that we’ll see during the show. One game that is not believed to be at the show is Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. According to serial leaker Tom Henderson, this game will be getting its own Ubisoft gameplay reveal the day after the Direct, on June 29.
Ever since Persona 5 Royal, Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 4 Golden were revealed for Xbox Game Pass, rumors have spread the games will also be coming to Switch. There hasn’t been any official confirmation of this although a leak from European retailer World of Games (as spotted by Reddit) had Persona 5 Royal for pre-order on Switch for a limited period of time before the listing was removed. The three games are expected to be at tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct Mini.
Before Nintendo confirmed they would be having a show tomorrow, Youtuber NachoMoL had already predicted the third-party Direct. In his stream, he had said to expect “another game that has been available for some time on other platforms”, one that had “been available for four years now.” While some were hoping this was confirmation of a Switch port of Red Dead Redemption 2, Requena later clarified the game had been released in “2017-2018 depending on the version”. This makes NieR: Automata a more appropriate fit, a game initially released in 2017 before the Become as Gods edition was released in 2018.
In other gaming news, today’s Fall Guys update disabled the Daily Store temporarily but it was hoped the store would be back up ASAP!! Elsewhere, the Steam Deck SSD mod has been labeled unsafe by its own creator.
