Assassins Creed Remake Rumors

Assassin’s Creed Remake Rumors Started By 15th Anniversary Celebration

Since the Assassin’s Creed 15th Anniversary Celebration stream only announced free content for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and a free weekend for Assassin’s Creed Origins, fans are expecting a new title to be announced during the September stream on the future of the franchise. Having poured over the stream itself and the media assets that came with it, those fans are thinking that game is likely to be a remaster of the very first Assassin’s Creed game.

The likelihood of an Assassin’s Creed remake

The Assassin’s Creed 15th Anniversary Celebration video began with a very brief look at footage from all of the games starting with Assassin’s Creed. Fans on Reddit commented on the different color scheme for the footage from that game hoping that it would indicate a remaster of the title, only for that to be debunked when others pointed out that the difference in color saturation was likely to be for the purpose of video editing and could be achieved in mere minutes.

A more convincing theory comes from Axios’ Stephen Totilo who asked why the first game was also the only one to get a new logo in the media asset pack. As well as the original logo, there is a new logo featuring the “Ubisoft Original” tagline. While some surmise the new logo is meant to be representative of the whole series, it has the same “AC1_Logo02” file name as the logo for the original game.

The 15th Anniversary Celebration itself also features highlights from all of the previous games in the franchise, starting with the most recent Valhalla and heading back towards the first Assassin’s Creed game. Each will get a week where Ubisoft offers new challenges for players and the chance to win prizes, with Assassin’s Creed due to be celebrated the week beginning September 6. There is going to be an Assassin’s Creed show at some point in September that will focus on the franchise’s future, and fans are hoping all of the very circumstantial evidence above will mean an Assassin’s Creed remake is announced. Until then, though, take everything said above with a healthy dose of salt.

In other news, the latest Halo Infinite patch has drawn allegations of racism after a Juneteenth nameplate was released with the name “Bonobo”. Elsewhere, Netflix has announcede a new reality TV show called Squid Games: The Challenge.
