While most major publishers and platform holders are getting ready for Summer Game Fest 2022 or even a show of their own since the cancelation of E3 2022, Nintendo has been suspiciously quiet. According to the latest rumor, though, a Nintendo Direct show is expected for June 15, 2022, because this is when several games are due to be stealth dropped on the Nintendo Switch.
The possibility of a Nintendo Direct in June 2022
The rumors have been sparked by an email received from Angel Matrix regarding the release of their upcoming game Neon White. At the moment the game doesn’t have an official release date yet the email states it will be released on June 15. While this is far from an unusual occurrence, content creator u/SamKaar shared on Reddit that this was one of several emails received from developers and publishers, all with similar terms. However, those were covered by NDAs and further details have not been revealed on those games.
So many games being released on the same day without prior announcement does seem to point towards a Nintendo Direct on June 15, 2022. Even though E3 has been canceled, Nintendo usually had some form of presence during the show and held their own Nintendo Direct on June 15, 2021, the last day of E3 2021. However, the email featured in the Reddit post makes absolutely no mention of a Nintendo Direct show and any mention of the show is speculation from that content creator at the moment. Nintendo is yet to comment on the rumors or make an official announcement, but they have been known to avoid announcing their shows until just a few days beforehand.
In other news, the latest Minecraft Dungeons update has removed mission progress blockers in Nether Fortress and Ancient Hunts. Elsewhere, the reviews for Jurassic World Dominion don’t paint a great picture after it was dubbed the “worst of the franchise.”
