PlayStation Players Stock up on 12 Month PS Now Subscription Ahead of PS Plus Changes

PlayStation users have been stockpiling 12-month PS Now subscriptions ahead of the upcoming change to the service. This move will allow them to make big savings in a few months’ time when the price structure changes significantly, as PS Now subs will be automatically converted to PS Plus Premium.

Why are PS Now 12-month subscriptions being stockpiled?

While Sony has largely phased out PS Now subscriptions over the last few months, users were still able to access yearly subscriptions to the service for $59.99 on the PlayStation Store — something that was first spotted by noted industry insider Wario64.

How to buy a PS Now 12-month subscription

To buy a PlayStation Now 12-month subscription, users need to navigate to the PlayStation Store on desktop web browsers to purchase the subscription as the option is currently not available on either mobile or consoles.

Although users on ResetEra noted mixed success with accessing the deal, those who can will save a lot of money as the PS Plus Premium membership is set to cost $119.99 a year when it launches in June. That’s double the cost of the current yearly sub for PS Now and some gamers have been able to stack multiple subs, boosting their membership by up to six years. Sony has already confirmed that the service will automatically change to PS Plus Premium

PS Plus Premium was announced last month and will replace the current subscription offerings that are available right now. The first tier, known as PS Plus Essentials, will offer monthly free games and discounts. PS Plus Extra will add some 400 PS4 and PS5 games that users can download and play across both systems. Meanwhile, PS Plus Premium will include all those benefits in addition to a library of PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP games.

In other news, Return to Monkey Island has been officially announced and is releasing this year, while 343 Industries has discussed the lack of updates for Halo Infinite.
