Pokemon Legends: Arceus Evolution Changes

Pokemon Legends: Arceus evolution change is a huge quality-of-life fix

A leak has revealed some major Pokemon Legends: Arceus evolution changes in the upcoming Nintendo Switch RPG, which releases next week and has already seemingly introduced some major changes to the usual Pokemon gameplay. The Pokemon Legends: Arceus evolution fix is seemingly only a small one but it’s a huge quality-of-life improvement for the whole Pokemon series — so hopefully this leak is real, as it certainly seems to be.

What are the Pokemon Legends: Arceus evolution changes?

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Evolution Changes

The new Pokemon Legends: Arceus leak details a big change involving the practice of evolving Pokemon, which is now no longer automatic apparently. Previously, in pretty much every Pokemon game evolution is automatic and happens whether the player wants it or not, which can be a real annoyance if that’s not what they want to do at that exact point. While it can often be prevented by holding the “B” button, players must be on their toes, ready to press it with each new level gained.

According to the new leak by @CEPLALeaks on Twitter, which seemingly shows the tutorial pop-up from Pokemon Legends: Arceus on “evolving Pokemon,” when the player’s captured Pokemon meet the requirements necessary to evolve then the player has to choose to evolve them. This can be simply done by looking at the Pokemon in the player’s satchel and selecting the “evolve” option if it’s available, but merely having evolution be a manual process in a Pokemon game is a big change — and a welcome quality of life improvement.

Hopefully, fans will see more similar improvements when Pokemon Legends: Arceus launches on January 28. Some have been welcome, such as the ability to ride larger Pokemon in the open world as mounts and adding a bit of peril for the player-controlled trainers this time, but other changes have not been so well received, such as the removal of trades and link battles. With just a week to go before the game releases, fans don’t have long left to find out at least.
