Is there any Pokemon Legends: Arceus multiplayer and if so, what forms does it take? Nintendo has shown off a lot about its big new Pokemon open-world RPG but the one thing it’s been keeping very mysterious is whether it’ll be single-player-only or not — and if it’s multiplayer, what that will entail. Is there Pokemon Legends: Arceus co-op play, for example, any sort of Wonder Trades or Link Battles — or even Raids?
What Pokemon Legends: Arceus multiplayer modes are there?
Pokemon Legends: Arceus will have multiplayer but Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have not yet specified exactly what form it’ll take, although it seems to just be two-player co-op and they will probably have to play close together. There are no Raids or Link Battles, but players will be able to trade with each other online although they may need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
The game’s official website lists Pokemon Legends: Arceus as being an online game that requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to access certain features, and a previous press release confirmed that although it would be online there would be no possibility of Link Battles in the open-world. Trading Pokemon will be allowed with other players — and presumably not just a co-op partner — but it’s unknown yet if this facility will be free or whether it will require the subscription. It’s entirely possible trading will be free and co-op will need to be done through Nintendo Switch Online, although players will have to wait and see to find out.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus releases on January 28, 2022 and is available to pre-order now. Nintendo has revealed that players will be able to ride certain Pokemon as mounts and trainers will finally get directly involved in battles. Finally, here’s when fans can expect the Pokemon Sitting Plush Cuties range of plush toys to be restocked.
