Peacemaker is another hit for DC, Rotten Tomatoes score equals The Suicide Squad

The early Peacemaker Rotten Tomatoes score is extremely promising and the HBO Max show is looking like another hit for DC Comics, which is good news for Warner Bros in a week dominated by concerns about The Flash movie changing the future of the DCEU. In fact, the current score from the first Peacemaker HBO Max reviews has the Rotten Tomatoes score equal to the movie it’s spun off from — The Suicide Squad.

The Peacemaker Rotten Tomatoes score equals The Suicide Squad

Peacemaker Rotten Tomatoes

The first reviews for The Suicide Squad movie spin-off show Peacemaker on HBO Max are in and are full of praise for the series. Consequently, the current Rotten Tomatoes score for Peacemaker stands at an excellent 90% which, by a happy coincidence, is exactly the same as the final “certified fresh” score for The Suicide Squad.

Of course, these scores can go up and down depending on further reviews and how they rate the projects. Prior to its release, The Suicide Squad was previously the highest-rated movie in the DCEU, a title it has since lost to 2017’s Wonder Woman, with Zack Snyder’s Justice League having the highest audience score. At the time of writing, Peacemaker only has ten reviews so its score will undoubtedly change but the critics so far have been full of praise, with reviewers calling it “a lot of James Gunn fun” (TV Line) and also “an unapologetic parody of superhero shows that’s also a pretty good superhero show in its own right” (Rolling Stone).

It’s certainly good news for the first-ever DCEU TV series, especially as director James Gunn has strongly hinted that Peacemaker will set up either further spin-offs or even The Suicide Squad 2, with multiple different projects in development and even a crossover with the Black Adam movie rumored. Peacemaker episode 1 will debut on HBO next week, on January 13.
