Director James Gunn has teased that multiple The Suicide Squad spin-offs are in various stages of discussion at Warner Bros, suggesting the possibility of both Suicide Squad 3 and further HBO Max shows after Peacemaker, which launches next week and already has multiple rumors around it suggesting that it sets up additional spin-offs or another Suicide Squad movie. But what further The Suicide Squad HBO Max shows could there be?
Multiple The Suicide Squad spin-offs in “early stages of development”
In an interview with YouTube channel Supes, The Suicide Squad director James Gunn teased that multiple spin-offs were in development in the style of the upcoming Peacemaker HBO Max series. Gunn was asked if other characters may get explored in other projects, similar to Peacemaker, and he confirmed that while he loves all the characters “there are a couple that lends themselves to other projects outside of The Suicide Squad a little bit more.”
Gunn then said that they “may be talking about some of those things right now” and that these possible projects “are in the early stages of development,” adding that they — “they” presumably meaning himself and Warner Bros/HBO Max — are definitely “interested in doing some things with some of those other characters.” Whether that will be someone major like Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) is another matter, but it has been teased that either Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) or T.D.K. (Nathan Fillion) may receive other projects or, at least, return for other spin-offs. Gunn wouldn’t confirm any of these, so fans will have to wait and see if Peacemaker sets any up, as rumored.
Of course, a sequel or HBO Max shows are not the only possibilities for spin-offs for The Suicide Squad as it’s strongly rumored that Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and/or Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) may appear in this Summer’s Black Adam movie. As with all these rumors, take them with a pinch of salt until they actually happen.
