A possible The Suicide Squad 2 leak may have revealed that the ending of the Peacemaker HBO Max series could be setting up the story for a full sequel, or at least a new spin-off series that deals with the events of the movie. This Suicide Squad 3 rumor suggests that the ending of Peacemaker season one will set up another movie or go straight into another Suicide Squad spin-off featuring Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) — and maybe even characters from the first Suicide Squad too.
The Suicide Squad 2 leak suggests Peacemaker may set up sequel
The rumor states that the ending of Peacemaker season one will set up a The Suicide Squad movie sequel or another spin-off that directly continues the events of the movie, with Amanda Waller seeking revenge for her humiliation at the hands of Bloodsport and the remaining members of Task Force X. James Gunn has already begun teasing a possible sequel or further spin-off after Peacemaker, so this rumor sounds extremely possible.
The rumor comes from The GWW Editor-in-Chief KC Walsh, via Walsh’s appearance on the Change My Mind podcast — the same place where Walsh leaked the villain of James Gunn’s other superhero project, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Walsh describes the Suicide Squad project as “Waller versus the Suicide Squad.” With the total failure of Waller’s plan in The Suicide Squad, Walsh asks “what’s the best way to get out of a mess for Amanda Waller? Kill all the witnesses.” They suggest that this could just be Peacemaker Season 2 but then Walsh also says it may be a sequel that could “bring all the people back from the first two movies,” including Will Smith as Deadshot.
At the moment there is little connection between the two Suicide Squad movies but a sequel that bridges the gap would be welcomed by a lot of fans. For now, Peacemaker season one begins streaming on January 13 via HBO Max.
