Director Zack Snyder has shared a Rebel Moon movie first look in the form of the first piece of concept art revealed for his original Star Wars-like sci-fi film for Netflix — his next movie with the service after the successful Army of the Dead. At the same time, Snyder also reinvigorated calls by fans to Warner Bros to “restore the Snyderverse” of his DC Comics movies by posting a new Ben Affleck Batman image — showing an alternate look at the very first image of Zack Snyder’s Batman ever released.

Today Zack Snyder shared the first official look at his sci-fi movie for Netflix, Rebel Moon, on Vero — showing a bunch of ominous skull-faced black-clad cloaked troopers marching through some ruins, who are presumably part of the army of the movie’s main antagonist, the tyrant Regent Balisarius. Regarding the movie’s filming, Snyder notes that they are “in full swing, heading towards principal photography in a few months.”

At the moment, not too much is known about Rebel Moon. It will star Sofia Boutella (The Mummy, Atomic Blonde) and is based on Snyder’s love of Akira Kurosawa and Star Wars, as it’s actually based on a pitch for a more mature Star Wars movie that went nowhere thanks to Disney’s purchase of the franchise. It will likely launch in 2023.
At the same time, Snyder also posted a new look at Ben Affleck’s Batman based on the character’s first image for Batman V Superman, standing in front of the Batmobile. A few days ago, Snyder also posted a picture of the Batmobile in front of the northern lights. Of course, fans immediately took this as further teases for Justice League 2 — which, to be fair, Snyder has been doing a lot of recently so there may be some truth to it.
