Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 Timer

Fortnite countdown timer signals the end of Chapter 2

A terrifying Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 timer has appeared on the lobby screen of Epic’s battle royale, and it appears to be signaling the arrival of the brand new Chapter 3 event — which has long been rumored to be the next step in the game rather than the expected Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 9, and will begin now that the Cube Queen has constructed the Prism Pyramid in the center of the map. So exactly what is the countdown in Fortnite for?

What is the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 timer countdown?

The timer in Fortnite is counting down to The End live event, which will happen on December 4 at 1 PM PT/4 PM ET/9 PM GMT. The End will be a one-time-only event where all players will take on the forces of the Cube Queen for the fate of the island. It will also mark the end of Chapter 2 Season 8 and Chapter 2 as a whole, over a year since this chapter of Fortnite began. The game will then be offline for 48 hours and will return with the brand-new Chapter 3, along with probably a completely redesigned island map.

The conclusion of Chapter 2 in Season 8 was long suspected but is still something of a surprise, seeing as Fortnite Chapter 1 went to ten seasons in the end and concluded with a shorter ending “Season X.” Nevertheless, Chapter 2 has already gone on for longer than Chapter 1 so it makes sense that Epic would want to conclude it here, especially now that the similarly long-rumored Naruto event is coming to an end too. Players should make sure to spend all their Gold Bars and Battle Stars before December 4 too.

There is undoubtedly a lot planned for Fortnite Chapter 3, with a major Spider-Man event already leaked being first up that will presumably tie into Spider-Man: No Way Home when that releases on December 17. Finally, a reminder that GameRevolution nearly got the end date of Chapter 2 exactly right all the way back in January 2020.
