The Last of Us TV show pilot has wrapped filming

Episode one of the upcoming The Last of Us TV show has finished filming, it was confirmed today. The news was broken by the episode’s director, Kantemir Balagov, on Instagram. With the HBO pilot wrapped and in the post-production stages now, it opens the door for the rest of the series to start filming soon.

The good news was confirmed on Instagram by Balagov, posting an image of the episode’s clapper board. Sadly, any information on scenes, takes, and personnel has been removed, so we can’t glean too much from it.

However, it is proof that The Last of Us TV show is deep in production. It’s very important to remember, though, that there is usually a gap between the pilot episode’s production, and the rest of the series. This pilot has been in the filming stages since early July. Gabriel Luna, who plays Tommy, shared an image of himself, Balagov, Pedro Pascal, and other cast members.

Therefore, production on the show is well underway. However, it isn’t clear yet whether shooting on episode 2 has started yet. The show is slated to continue filming until June 2022, so with over nine months left, there’s plenty of time for the rest of filming to take place. Pilot episodes also often have a higher budget than subsequent episodes, meaning production could be a lot quicker than the two months it took for this episode to wrap filming.

While details are still thin, it’s certainly an exciting development for The Last of Us fans. With The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal and Game of Thrones’ Bella Ramsey in the lead roles, it’s shaping up nicely. This confirmation of a completed pilot definitely suggests that things are going in the right direction.

In other news, the new Fortnite update is out now. We’ve got all the leaks and datamines here, and the new Fortnite Crew Legacy gear.
