During today's Nintendo Direct, the company announced that a new update for 3DS—which will be rolling out (hopefully) sooner rather than later—adds some long-awaited features to its popular handheld.
Now, players will be able to create and link the Nintendo Network ID on their handheld to their ID on Wii U, allowing users to combine their eShop accounts across both, so long as the same ID is registered on both devices. What this means is that now instead of having two separate pools of funds in your eShop wallet, they will be combined.
Here's to hoping this is a sign Nintendo plans to take this a step further in the future, by providing a completely ubiquitous experience across 3DS and Wii U.
In addition, 3DS will finally be getting Miiverse support, once again blurring the lines between Wii U and 3DS. Are you psyched for Miiverse on 3DS? Let us know in the comments below.
