A handful of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered cars are missing from the roster of a newly-revealed revival of a classic game in the franchise. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit was one of the more popular entries in the series and EA is bringing it back to modern platforms modern graphics, but not every car has made the cut.
Earlier today, Electronic Arts announced the Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered release date for early November 2020, ten years after its original launch; this continues EA’s commitment to take the game back to its “Street Racer vs. Cops” format. This remaster would be bringing the game to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch with graphical enhancements and all of the DLC from the original game bundled into one package. Unfortunately, it appears that a few of the game’s classic cars didn’t quite make the cut.
The missing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered cars don’t much much sense
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered will feature a total of 77 cars for players to enjoy — certainly welcome news to players who were disappointed by the early closure of Need for Speed Heat. Howveer, no Toyota cars make an appearance in this revival, possibly due to Toyota not wanting to promote “illegal street racing” with its brand. Toyota’s absence aside, the list of new cars also happens to be missing three entries from the original release of the game, a fact that came to light when comparing the new list of cars with the list of cars from the original game.
The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition and Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss are two of the missing cars. As the name of these two cars indicates, they were created as part of a partnership between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren. Both Mercedes-Benz and McLaren have individual cars in the game, so the absence of these two vehicles is likely due to the fact that Mercedes-Benz sold its stake in McLaren back in 2009.
The third and final missing car is Carbon Motors E7 Concept. The average player may not be familiar with this company; it originally came onto the market intending to create new police vehicles. Carbon Motors closed its doors in 2013, and that is probably why the Carbon Motors E7 Concept is missing from the remaster.
The cars that haven’t made it into Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered will disappoint fans of these particular models, but EA has still managed to get all of the other 77 cars in the game. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered launches on November 6, 2020, for the PC, PS4, Xbox One; the Nintendo Switch release date is one week later on November 13, 2020.
