In a move startling no one, Ghost of Tsushima has been delayed. The upcoming title about a samurai fighting off Mongol invaders in 13th century Japan has been teased for almost three years. Fortunately, the delay is under a month, and Sony has already announced a new Ghost of Tsushima release date.
Ghost of Tsushima being bumped from June to July is likely the result of the new release date for The Last of Us Part 2. Sony hasn’t confirmed, but it seems like recent leaks for TLOU2 has forced it to examine this summer’s release schedule. Ghost of Tsushima‘s original release date was June 26, which would have been only a week after The Last of Us 2’s launch. It makes sense that Sony wouldn’t want two of its most anticipated games of the year to compete.

Oddly, we haven’t seen a ton of gameplay. Sucker Punch and Sony have released several story trailers, but it’s still somewhat of a mystery how the game will play. We shouldn’t have much to worry about considering Sucker Punch is behind the critically acclaimed (for the most part) Sly Cooper and Infamous series.
You’ll be able to become a samurai in feudal Japan soon. Ghost of Tsushima launches on July 17, 2020, exclusively on PS4.
