WWE 2K21 is not happening this year

WWE 2K20 was a mess. It was riddled with glitches and the victim many bug compilations that were almost to goofy to be true. Sequels usually let developers fix the issues of the past but that will not be the case for WWE 2K21 as the WWE announced that it will have no game this year.

According to WrestleZone, its Q1 conference call laid it out quite simply in a single, damning sentence: “There’s not going to be a launch of the game this year.”

This is not surprising for a few reasons. For one, the aforementioned glitches were quite problematic for the game, which were the result of unfortunate working conditions. Developer Yuke’s left the series because it was “losing sight of [its] passion” and it was handed to Visual Concepts and that team wasn’t afforded the time to get the game done. And also Justin Leeper, a former writer for the games, said there was no game coming earlier this month. Obviously, this conference call proves him right.

Skipping this year is probably for the best given how much damage WWE 2K20 did to the brand. Hopefully, 2K can get it together and ship a game that makes the rounds on Twitter because of its quality and not because of its technical problems.
