Sony Translating, Streaming Japanese Press Conference; Tier-3 PS4 Release Date Expected

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan will be holding a conference in Tokyo tomorrow, which will be broadcast all over the world via Ustream. The link for the English translation is right here. The station is prepped, but you're not gonna see anything until 15:00 JST on Monday, September 9. That converts to 2:00am on Monday for the North American East Coast, 11:00pm Sunday night for the West Coast, and Monday at 7:00 in the mornin' BSTea. If you wanna be hip and watch the Japanese version instead, here you go.

While not officially confirmed, it's widely suspected that Sony will reveal the Japanese PS4 launch date, and perhaps other territories in Asia. Gloating about Tokyo getting the 2020 Olympic Games will only be done in passive-aggressive little jabs that might not translate well into English. Look carefully at Yoshida's winks and nods, though.

What the hell, I'm gonna roll the dice and say December 14 for PS4 in Japan. That's a spot about a week before the biggest sales period of the year in Japan, kind of the equivalent of Black Friday. Then again, the Wii-U and Vita both launched in December and look how that's been going….

Should Sony decide to push PS4 into 2014, it will imply that guns and ammo are needed in the European and North American arenas of console warfare. Should someone discuss this and then wink at a camera, it will mean that Istanbul can go fuck itself. Tokyo 2020.
