Mortal Kombat Legends_ Scorpion's Revenge trailer

The first Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge trailer is toasty

The first Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge trailer dropped today, and showed what the film will look like in action. As the title suggests, the movie follows Scorpion and his transformation from Hanzo Hasashi into the skull-faced hell ninja we all love.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge looks to be a retelling of the first Mortal Kombat tournament, and, appropriately, will center around Scorpion’s vengeance against Sub Zero for killing him. In addition to the IGN First trailer released today, we also know the full casting for the film:

  • Artt Butler as Shang Tsung
  • Darin De Paul as Quan Chi
  • David B. Mitchell as Raiden
  • Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer
  • Grey Griffin as Kitana & Satoshi Hasashi
  • Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs
  • Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade
  • Joel McHale as Johnny Cage
  • Jordan Rodrigues as Liu Kang
  • Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro
  • Patrick Seitz as Scorpion & Hanzo Hasashi
  • Robin Atkin Downes as Kano
  • Steve Blum as Sub-Zero

In addition to the story of Scorpion, we’ll likely see the plot of the original Mortal Kombat fleshed out. The game didn’t have much exposition past what was in the instruction manual when it released, so there’s a lot of room to expand the characters. Given how awesome the story modes in Mortal Kombat X and 11 were, I’d love to see the characters in the original title come to life in a way other than just ripping each other’s bones out of their bodies.

Luckily, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge seems to be following in the footsteps of the Castlevania series on Netflix. It’ll be rated R, so you can bet there’ll be a lot of blood and violence, just like in the games.

So far, there’s no firm release date for Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge. However, we know the film will release straight to digital, DVD, and Blu-ray in Spring 2020.
