Uncharted movie loses its director again

Travis Knight, the latest director of Sony’s long-planned Uncharted movie, is leaving production on the film. Knight was announced as director of the film in late September 2019.

In an exclusive report, Deadline shared the news of Knight’s departure. According to the publication, lead actor Tom Holland’s ongoing work on the Spider-Man movie series led to scheduling conflicts with Knight, meaning he can no longer direct. Holland and fellow actor Mark Wahlberg will remain on the project as Sony looks for a new director.

The Uncharted movie has had a rocky production history, experiencing several false starts since its announcement. Knight was the movie’s sixth director, following David O. Russell, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Shawn Levy, and Dan Tractenberg.

While it’s looking more and more like the official movie may never make it out of production, Uncharted fans already have a great live-action adaptation of the games, thanks to a free 2018 Uncharted fan film starring Nathan Fillion.
