No More Heroes 3 trailer The Game Awards 2019

No More Heroes 3 trailer shown at The Game Awards 2019

The Game Awards 2019 are already underway, and viewers who tuned in early were just given a special treat: A fresh new look at No More Heroes 3, the latest entry in the fan-favorite hack-and-slash adventure from the team at Grasshopper Manufacture.

ALSO: No More Heroes 3 inspired by the Rocky franchise, says Suda51

Showcasing a classic animation style, the trailer follows along as young Damon watches the departure of his dear friend Fu. Promising to return in 20 years, Damon waits patiently as the world slowly changes around him. Fu holds true to his promise, returning 20 years later, but it’s not quite the return Damon expected.

From there, things just get downright bizarre. Fu returns with a new host of allies, but he’s changed: Years spent in an intergalactic prison have instilled the desire to take over Damon’s world.

Needless to say, the game looks every bit as far-out as series fans have come to expect. There’s still no firm release date set, but fans can expect the release of No More Heroes 3 for the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020.
