Bethesda has pleasant surprise in store for Game Pass subscribers on Windows 10 PC this morning. Microsoft announced tons of upcoming games for its Game Pass service on both console and PC at their XO19 event yesterday. One upcoming game was Rage 2, Bethesda and Avalanche’s open-world first-person shooter from back in May. During their announcements, that game was only announced for Xbox Game Pass, but there were reports of a Windows 10 version showing up as well. 24 hours later, a Rage 2 PC Game Pass edition is available for download without warning.
It’s worth noting that Rage 2 is not an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so any Xbox players will not be able to jump onto PC with their existing save game. On the flip side, achievement hunters can replay the game to bump up their score since both lists exist separately on your Gamercard. You’ll need 44.57 GB on your hard drive to install the game from the Xbox app. Players could previously jump in on PC via Steam and Bethesda’s own launcher.

Rage 2 didn’t make much of a splash upon its initial debut this year, but it’s a solid shooter that’s perfect as a bonus game for a subscription service. Bethesda has supported the game with both free and paid expansions, finishing off the roadmap with the recently released TerrorMania mission pack. Both that and Rise of the Ghostsare available as in-game purchases via the premium “RAGE Coins” currency.
In addition to Rage 2 PC Game Pass edition, Microsoft added several other titles to the subscription as of yesterday’s XO19 spectacular. PC gamers can partake in the brand new Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, as well as Hearts of Iron 4: Cadet Edition, The Talos Principle, and Tracks – The Train Set Game. Games coming soon to the PC service include Darksiders 3, a ton of Final Fantasy titles, My Friend Pedro, and Streets of Rage 4.
