The Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 release date has been delayed. This upcoming sequel to 2004’s Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines has been desired for a very long time, but Hardsuit Labs and Paradox Interactive have made the tough decision to push the game’s launch back to a later point in 2020.
A statement from the developers breaks it down: over the last two months, the team realized that they weren’t going to be able to get this game out in the first quarter of 2020 and maintain a level of quality they would be satisfied with. Consequently, they’re going to be holding off on release to ensure that we get the best possible version of the game.

Here is a portion of the statement announcing that the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 release date has been delayed:
For the last three and a half years, we’ve worked hard to bring you a worthy successor to Bloodlines 1. To us, that meant not only making good on the ambitions of this remarkable game, but also a duty to ensure we would not repeat its mistakes. Today, we have to tell you that we need some more time to get you the game you’ve been waiting for. Although Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will still launch in 2020, we have decided to value quality over making the Q1 launch window.
Fans of the original are well-familiar with the buggy state of the game; there were many problems that were ultimately never corrected by the developer. Understandably, the poor state of the game didn’t do much to help with its reception in the gaming world. The state of the first title was only salvaged through an absolutely massive fan patch that has been repeatedly updated to fix all of the original game’s many issues.
Obviously, the devs want to avoid a similar situation from happening with the sequel. At least we’ll still be getting it sometime next year! More information about the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 release date delay and the future of the game will be revealed at PDXCON 2019.
