WoW Classic server hosts moving celebration after Asmongold hits max level

Professional Twitch streamer Asmongold has been in his element recently, pouring countless hours into the beloved old-school World of Warcraft revival WoW Classic and even defending the game’s honor when Dr Disrespect bashed it. Such dedication didn’t allow him to become the first player to reach the max level cap of 60 (although that might be for the best, as the player that did take that mantle seemingly has carpal tunnel syndrome to show for it), but it has won him the hearts of many viewers and an entire in-game server.

As Asmongold triumphantly returned to Stormwind City atop his mount, the band Queen’s iconic song “We Are The Champions” playing in the background, he discovered that an enormous crowd of players had gathered for a homecoming parade in celebration of him reaching max level. The gaming feat no doubt took a lot of dedication, so as Asmongold rides down the road flanked on either side by excited players he becomes visibly emotional and takes pause to fully appreciate the moment.

Even when first approaching the crowd the look of sheer glee on Asmongold’s face and following exclamation of “holy s***, man” reveals what this moment means to him. As players set off fireworks, rain spells, and type warm words of encouragement, he states “there it is, boys” and takes a well-earned victory sip of his drink.

The in-game parade (which you can see here) is just one example of the sense of community that WoW Classic has been building amongst its players. Early in the game’s life, severs were so overfilled that after enduring what could be hours-long waits just to play the game, players were then politely forming literal queues in order to wait to play quests, kill mobs, and claim rare loot.

In those ways, Activision Blizzard’s MMORPG has been a force for good, in a similar fashion to the challenging catalog of games developed by From Software, which recently earned praise for teaching players to better handle real-world stress.
