WoW Classic still forces players to queue for good loot

WoW Classic players are bringing a little bit of order to the otherwise chaotic launch of this throwback MMORPG. In the days before shared loot, your only chance for getting rare items from certain mobs was to wait for them to spawn, kill them, and hope for the best. A lot of people want to get some of these items, so they’ve come up with a solution: they’re politely lining up.

And yes, this is exactly what it sounds like. There is only one of an especially rare monster. Everybody wants to try to get a rare item that the monster drops, but dozens (or even hundreds) of people might want it. Once killed, the monster doesn’t respawn for several minutes. The natural solution that players have elected to use is to simply line up behind the monster and politely wait for their turn.

Have a gander at some of these tweets that show WoW Classic players queueing for rare loot, first highlighted over at GameRanx:

This may seem strange, but one has to consider several factors. First, the launch of WoW Classic has been seriously busy with log-in queues reaching tens of thousands of players. This is also a reflection of a game that didn’t have many of the modern conveniences that were introduced in the decade-and-a-half since its original launch.

While these WoW Classic players lining up to fight monsters might seem new, it’s actually not, at least on the larger world stage. Japanese MMORPG behaviors have been known to do the same thing, stretching all the way back to the early 2010s. This article shows Japanese players from TERA and Final Fantasy 11 lining up for their chance at getting some rare loot.

The launch of World of Warcraft Classic may have been a wee bit chaotic, but a handful of players have decided to bring some order to the world. A tip of the hat to those gamers of all ages who know how to politely wait their turn.
