Death Stranding Geoff Keighley

Death Stranding Geoff Keighley cameo might be the weirdest thing about the game

The announcement that Geoff Keighley will be making a cameo in Death Stranding was perhaps one of the more unorthodox announcements that came out during the Opening Night Live event at Gamescom 2019. There are still a lot of questions surrounding Hideo Kojima’s latest game, but it’s probably going to be an odd ride. The Death Stranding Geoff Keighley cameo is evidently just one of many cameos planned for the game, according to Kojima, so there is no telling who you might come across.

Fans were also treated to another gameplay trailer of Death Stranding at Gamescom 2019. The gameplay reveal gave players a closer look at Sam and his connection to the mysterious child that has been seen in numerous trailers. Viewers were also introduced to a new baby rocking gameplay mechanic, which will be used to soothe the child that Sam is carrying throughout the game.

Later on, Kojima explained that while Keighley’s face is set to appear in the game, his character will be voiced by Matthew Mercer. If this name sounds familiar, it’s because he is the voice behind some well known characters like Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 6 (but not any other RE game) and McCree from Overwatch.

Kojima also revealed that throughout the game, players would come across characters known as Preppers, one of whom Keighley plays. These characters won’t necessarily have to do with the main storyline, but seeking them out will be beneficial to you in some way, according to Kojima. However, in typical fashion, Kojima was pretty quiet on the exact role of preppers, so we will have to wait a little bit longer to see exactly what their role is in the Death Stranding world when it releases on November 8, 2019 on PS4.
