FF7 Remake concept art

FF7 Remake concept art shows off stunning Mako Reactor comparison

Some FF7 Remake concept art has popped up on the official Final Fantasy 7 Twitter and it looks absolutely gorgeous. The upcoming remake of one of the most iconic role-playing games in the history of video games is hotly anticipated by fans around the world, but some may have wondered if Square Enix will be able to truly capture the beauty that we all imagined. From what we’ve seen so far, they’ve absolutely nailed it.

“Check out this concept art from #FinalFantasy VII Remake, featuring Midgar’s Sector 1,” read a tweet on the game’s official Twitter account. “The planet’s Mako energy is extracted by the Mako Reactor (seen in the background) and used to power the city of Midgar. Alongside this is a closer in-game look at the Reactor itself. #FF7R”

The image below shows the concept art in greater detail. On the left, we see 3D FF7 Remake concept art of a Mako reactor, the power source for the city of Midgar in the game (and one of the many places you’ll visit). It certainly looks pretty great, but concept art rarely translates well to the finished product. That’s why Square Enix also included an actual in-game screenshot on the right:

There are, of course, some slight differences between the FF7 Remake concept art of the Mako reactor and the finished in-game product. One such difference is the apparent lack of shiny metal on the kanji on the Mako reactor. The lighting is also slightly different, but it’s rare that a pre-rendered concept art screenshot will be exactly the same as a game in motion. Even with minor changes and lighting differences, it’s apparent that Square Enix has beautifully realized their vision.

If you want to see this for yourself in-game, you won’t have to wait too long: the FF7 Remake release date is March 3, 2020.
