A third game in the magical Ni No Kuni series will be heading our way! In a recent interview, Level 5 president Akihiro Hino confirmed that Ni No Kuni 3 is in development. We can expect the third installment sometime after the Ni No Kuni movie adaptation comes out. While it’s a wide release window, there are plenty of Ni No Kuni-related releases to tide over fans until more information is revealed.
In the interview with Japanese magazine Nikkei, reported by PC Games Network, Hino said that Level 5 plans to release a new game after the release of the animated film adaptation. While the wording was unclear, it’s not likely that the game will arrive immediately after the film, which releases at the end of August. Since Ni No Kuni 2 launched in March 2018, it’s safe to say the third game probably won’t arrive so soon.
Fans of Ni No Kuni will have plenty to entertain themselves with between now and the release of the third game. Aside from the movie, there’s a remastered Wrath of the White Witch heading to PlayStation 4 and PC, as well as a Switch port. All three will launch on September 20, 2019.
For those who’ve missed out, Ni No Kuni is an RPG with beautiful cinematic visuals from the famous Studio Ghibli. The games incorporate the magic and whimsy that Studio Ghibli fans have come to expect from the studio. The two games in the series to head west were Wrath of the White Witch and Revenant Kingdom. While I’d encourage people to explore both, the plots are separate enough that you can jump into the second if you prefer.
With remasters, a movie, and a third game on the way, now is the time to explore Ni No Kuni if you haven’t. Revenant Kingdom is on sale now, too. What better timing could there be to dive in while awaiting Ni No Kuni 3?
