What Remains of Edith Finch Switch release

What Remains of Edith Finch Switch port may be coming soon

A Nintendo Switch version of Giant Sparrow’s surreal and emotional walking simulator What Remains of Edith Finch has been listed on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. There’s currently no word on a release in the West for the Annapurna Interactive-published game, but the Japanese version does support the English language (though that could mean nothing at all). The What Remains of Edith Finch Switch version is listed for 2,200 yen (about $20) on the Japanese eShop, has a 2.2 GB download size, and is set to release on July 4 in Japan.

Annapurna Interactive or developer Giant Sparrow have yet to officially reveal the Switch version’s existence despite its presence on the Japanese eShop. But it would be hard to imagine that this was a big ruse that would go against all the aforementioned evidence.

This would not be the first time the game went to another console. The title debuted on PS4 and PC in April 2017 before jumping to the Xbox One that July. It was even included as part of the Epic Store as one of the storefront’s free games.

In What Remains of Edith Finch, players explore the labyrinthine home of the titular protagonist from a first-person perspective. Edith’s family is cursed by death, each experiencing early and bizarre ends. Edith, the last surviving member of her family, wanders the home’s many rooms, piecing together clues to uncover the stories of her family members’ deaths. These stories are experienced through each dead family member’s perspective as short, mini-game-infused vignettes, ending in the family member’s death. It reviewed well and sold “a good number.”

Firewatch and Gone Home, acclaimed walking simulators in the same vein as Giant Sparrow’s game, are already available on the Switch, so a What Remains of Edith Finch Switch release would further bolster the hybrid console’s library of emotional, story-based experiences.
