Travis Strikes Again PS4 and PC versions announced

Travis Strikes Again PS4 and PC ports announced

Grasshopper Manufacture has just confirmed Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. Originally released for Nintendo Switch in January, the Travis Strikes Again PS4 and PC ports represent the first time No More Heroes game has appeared in a non-Nintendo console in some time.

The company made the announcement at Momocon 2019. Aside from the fact that the game is coming to two new platforms, no other details were announced about the ports.

The third game in the No More Heroes franchise, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes sees protagonist Travis Touchdown and new enemy Badman sucked into the mysterious “Death Drive MK-II” game console. To escape, they must complete a number of stages, based on video games for the console, earning a “Death Ball” from each. Along the way, Travis and Badman encounter characters from other games by studio head Goichi “Suda51” Suda.

In terms of gameplay, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes differentiates itself from previous titles by being a top-down brawler. In addition to this, the game also throws in stages that are based on other popular games. This includes a number of platforming segments, even a Pac-Man based segment.

While all this sounds fun, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes ends up being a bit of a mixed bag in terms of execution. The change to a top down brawler makes the game much smaller in scope when compared to its predecessors. Despite this, the game still feels a bit too long and repetitive. Our own review stated that “Travis Strikes Back is about an hour too long” and that it “does not keep up the pace.”

The mere fact that a No More Heroes game is appearing outside of a Nintendo console makes Travis Strikes Again on PS4 and PC exciting. No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise, a port of the original game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, was the last non-Nintendo game in the franchise. However, Grasshopper Manufacture only released its sequel on the Wii U. Hopefully, these ports of Travis Strikes Again mean that other games in the franchise will also make their way to PS4 and PC.
