The Capcom Home Arcade has been announced by the company’s United Kingdom division. A “new challenger” was teased yesterday by the company’s official Twitter account showing a montage of classic arcade games. We now know what exactly it is that they were teasing: a brand-new home arcade system featuring some of Capcom’s greatest entries in the annals of video games.
One of the most interesting (and strangest) features of the Capcom Home Arcade is the look of the system itself. The retro console of sorts is shaped like the Capcom logo and features controls for two players with an 8-button arcade layout. These aren’t just some off-the-shelf parts, either: the console will include competition class Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT sticks and OBSF buttons. Power is supplied to the device via Micro USB and it includes an HDMI output and built-in Wi-Fi. It was announced via Capcom UK’s Twitter.
Of course, retro consoles of this sort include some games with them. Capcom’s entry into the trend of retro gaming consoles has 16 titles in total. Here’s the list of games you’ll get with the device:
- 1944: The Loop Master
- Alien vs. Predator
- Armored Warriors
- Capcom Sports Club
- Captain Commando
- Cyberbots Fullmetal Madness
- Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
- ECO Fighters
- Final Fight
- Ghouls ‘N Ghosts
- Gigawing
- Mega Man: The Power Battle
- Progear
- Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
- Strider
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
The store page for the Capcom Home Arcade lists the price at €229.99 including VAT, although there will also be additional shipping costs beyond the MSRP. Pre-orders are available for the device in advance of its launch date of October 25, 2019. We don’t yet have any details on a US release, although we should expect to be hearing something about that in the near future. There’s no details as to the price of the US version or whether or not it will include the same library of games.
