Superhot VR sales

Superhot VR sales revenue surpasses non-VR version

Superhot VR sales have overtaken the original version of the game, generating more revenue than the original Superhot since its release in 2016. The surprisingly-high Superhot VR sales number of 800,000 also means it’s one of the most successful VR games currently on the market.

Director of special projects for Superhot Callum Underwood announced the news that Superhot VR had surpassed the revenue of the non-VR version on Twitter. The news comes shortly after the studio celebrated the three-year anniversary of the “time only moves when you move” first-person game.

Towards the end of last month, it was also announced Superhot VR would be coming to Oculus’s new wireless virtual reality headset, the Quest. The developers commented, “It’s official, soon you’ll be able to enjoy all the virtual, visceral violence in a wire-free fashion.”

The studio behind Superhot has continued to support the game post-release. The game received a DLC named Superhot: Mind Control Delete. The additional content added some roguelike elements and procedural generation. A Superhot JP was released. The game is simply Superhot with a Japanese-theme, incorporating many elements from the original game.

Virtual reality has been acquiring steam over the last couple of months. VR Jedi/music mashup Beat Saber recently hit its own sales milestone. The title was the first virtual reality game to sell beyond one million units. Shortly after, PlayStation announced a number of VR titles at its first State of Play event.

While the event was not well received as a whole, titles like Iron Man VR and No Man’s Sky VR attracted significant attention. Nintendo has also looked to delve deeper into virtual reality with Labo VR. Nintendo recently announced free VR updates for The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. We recently got a sneak peek at Mario in the new virtual reality mini-missions.
