Fans of competitive Fortnite should mark their calendars. Epic Games has finally revealed the venue for the Fortnite World Cup Finals just a week before the start of the qualifiers.
The UTSA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center’s Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York will be the venue of this years Fortnite World Cup Finals. This year’s event will take place from July 26 to 28.
The Arthur Ashe Stadium can seat 23,771 spectators, making it the largest tennis-specific stadium in the world. While it has hosted non-tennis events before, this is the first esports event to be hosted at the venue.
Interested fans can now pre-register at Fortnite’s official Ticketmaster Verified Fan website. Pre-registered fans will be contacted first when the actual tickets become available. Fans with tickets who attend the three-day event will receive V-Bucks and a Season 10 Battle Pass.
Top Fortnite players are set to start qualifying for the World Cup next week. They will compete in ten weekly qualifiers starting from April 13 up until June 16. These ten weekly qualifiers are further divided into five solo and five duo events.
Players from servers in North America, Europe, Asia, Brazil, and Oceania will have separate competitions, standings, and a different number of spots for the Fortnite World Cup. These players will first have to go through Arena mode before qualifying for the weekly Open Tournament.
Only 3,000 players will make it into the Sunday Finals, from which a different number of players will qualify for each region. Additional details on qualifying can be found on Epic’s blog post.
Aside from entry into the World Cup, the players will also be fighting it out for a piece of the $1 million prize pool with each qualifier.
The Fortnite World Cup is the biggest competitive event for Epic’s battle royale shooter. With the qualifiers starting next week, fans should expect a lot of action over the next few months.
