Fortnite Leaks Are a ‘Logistical Headache’ for Epic Games – Report

Epic Games is reportedly cracking down on Fortnite leaks as they have been a “logistical headache” for the publisher, according to Insider Gaming, a new website spearheaded by known insider Tom Henderson. It is said that sources that have revealed legitimate information on other characters that would be coming to the game like Dreamer and Starfire are now more reluctant to do the same for upcoming content.

How Epic Games is clamping down on Fortnite leaks

Insider Gaming reports that the publisher is employing a strategy to narrow down where leaks are coming from within the company, with “the studio resorting to only giving certain details to certain groups in order to track leaks” in the last few months. Game of Thrones fans will be familiar with this tactic, alluding to Tyrion Lannister providing different variations of information to three people who he believed could be providing leaks to his sister.

Recent datamines and leaks on Fortnite include a Star Wars collaboration with Luke Skywalker outfits and lightsabers, a possible crossover with FIFA to celebrate the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and even a Lady Gaga concert to appear in the game. That said, a source says that the majority of the Fortnite leaks within the last few months have “no weight to them.” A lot of these so-called collaborations are just not true, with the source stating “that everyone expects everything to come to the game at some point and that’s not the case.”

That said, the leaked release date for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 5 is still apparently slated for December 5, 2022, with Season 4 ending a few days before that on December 3. It’s possible that Season 5 may instead be the start of Chapter 4, but sources say that isn’t the case.

In other news, the Xbox September update will add party chat noise suppression to Xbox One and PC, and the FIFA 23 Ted Lasso crossover along with AFC Richmond has been confirmed by Electronic Arts.
