Disney Star Wars Galaxy Edge Will Feature the Cantina, Along With Alcoholic Drinks

Disney Star Wars Galaxy Edge sounds like the dream for every Star Wars fan out there, but would it really be complete without an alien band a watering hole that’s oh-so-similar to the Cantina of Mos Eisley? We guess not. Thankfully you won’t have to worry about that as Disneyland’s sci-fi world of Star Wars will be opening with Oga’s Cantina. And guess what? They’ll be serving drinks. Alcoholic ones.

This report comes from Hollywood Reporter, who also mentions that Disneyland serving alcoholic drinks is actually a huge step from business as usual. According to them, this will be the first time in “its 63-year history, guests will be able to enjoy an alcoholic beverage inside Disneyland outside of the secretive invite-only Club 33 hidden in New Orleans Square.”

What’s interesting is that Oga’s Cantina seems to have its very own Star Wars lore, too. The Disney Parks Blog has described the bar being run by a “by an intriguing alien proprietor, Oga Garra” who keeps both enemies and friends close to them. This may not be the typical Star Wars lore fans might want, but we can’t deny that we’re intrigued all the same. Maybe we’ll see a hint of the bar somewhere in the future?

But drinks aren’t the only thing Oga’s Cantina will be serving, as the blog states that there will be “musical entertainment provided, courtesy of RX-24, the former StarSpeeder 3000 pilot droid that is first met in Star Tours, who has re-envisioned himself as the cantina’s DJ. As quirky and talkative as ever, he’s still trying to do his best on the job.”

A singing, entertaining robot, drinks that may or may not be related to the Star Wars universe somehow and the knowledge that you’re sitting in a bar that’s practically straight out of Star Wars? Bring on 2019.
