It’s rumored that there’s going to be an Assassins Creed Odyssey Atlantis DLC expansion coming in 2019. After the Assassins Creed Origins expansion The Curse of the Pharaohs that saw the addition of curses and beasts from Egyptian mythology, a similar kind of expansion for Assassins Creed Odyssey that made use of the mysteries and myths of Ancient Greece isn’t something entirely outside the realm of possibility.
Assassins Creed Odyssey is set to revolutionize the Assassins Creed formula, transforming the series into a full-blown RPG with dialogue trees, character levelling, and the choice between a male or female player character. It’s the natural progression from the foundations laid by Assassins Creed Origins, which itself turned the series on its head and started to meddle with the RPG genre in a few ways. It’s rumored that like Origins, that the sequel will feature an expansion that steps away from the “historical accuracy” that the series is known for and into the mythos of the era, with an Assassins Creed Odyssey Atlantis DLC expansion.
Where does the rumor come from? Well, about an hour ago, Eurogamer published an interview with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot where he confirmed that no new Assassins Creed titles would release in 2019, with the series taking a break for that year. Guillemot seemed to suggest that Assassins Creed Odyssey would be getting expansions instead — and near the end of their article, Eurogamer said that there are “whispers abound that the game will get an Atlantis-themed expansion down the line.” Alleged leaks cropped up two months ago that seemed to suggest this, that Atlantis was cut from the game to be offered as DLC later down the line.
