Earlier this month Halo fans received news that a new game would be released soon in 2018. However, it wasn’t exactly Halo 6, as it turned out to be an arcade game. Halo Fireteam Raven is being developed by Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix. This week franchise developer 343 Industries finally answered certain questions that fans have been asking about the arcade game as well as the status of the next Halo game.
Halo Fireteam Raven Halo 6: The Game Is Canon
In the most recent news update on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries confirms that Halo Fireteam Raven is indeed officially canon. The game is set during the events of Halo: Combat Evolved, where players will assume command of Fireteam Raven, a group of elite Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODST) aiding Master Chief and the rest of the UNSC in the war against the Covenant.
As was initially revealed several weeks ago, the Halo Fireteam Raven arcade machine will be available exclusively at Dave & Busters in North America when it debuts this summer. International Halo fans will be happy to know that it will also be arriving all over the world in the future, with additional details and regions to be announced at a later date.
Halo Fireteam Raven Halo 6: Not Releasing On The Xbox One
There’s bad news for Xbox One players as the company also confirmed that there are currently no plans to release Halo Fireteam Raven on consoles or other platforms, due to the unique arcade experience provided by the game. However, players can still bring the actual arcade machine home when it becomes available through distributors later in 2018.
Halo Fireteam Raven Halo 6: Halo 6 Still In Development
The most interesting piece of information revealed in the news post is the company’s reassurance that “the core 343 Industries game development team remains hard at work on the next Halo FPS installment.” Fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too much considering it’s almost exactly what the developer already said in an update earlier this year. Back in February 2018, 343 Industries revealed that it’s not sparing any resources for the development of Halo 6.
