Destiny 2 Warmind Expansion Gets New Launch Trailer

The launch trailer for the upcoming Destiny 2 Warmind expansion has just released. It gives us a good look at some plot cutscenes as well as a new raid lair and some of the new weapons. Guardians will have to fight endless hordes of Frozen Hive, who have emerged from the thawing ice caps of Mars, and are hell-bent on destroying the core of the Warmind Rasputin. Before it’s too late, you’ll have to destroy Xol, a gargantuan worm-god worshipped by the hive. As well as this, you’ll have to help the long thought lost Guardian Ana Bray as she tries to rediscover her past.

We’ve also been shown some teasers of the new weapons that you’ll be able to get ahold of in Destiny 2 Warmind. There’s the Valkyrie Javelin, a relic weapon which you can throw into the ground from above to deal what looks like an area-of-effect attack. Worldline Zero, an exotic sword, dishes out electrifying flourishes. There’s also Polaris Lance, an exotic scout rifle, and The Huckleberry, an exotic submachine gun.

There’s also a glimpse of Spire of Stars, Warmind‘s raid lair. It’s a space installation with exotic architecture, sprawling vines, and hulking brassy statues. It looks to be quite expansive, and it also looks like there’ll be subsections, so expect plenty of dynamic movement. The description of the trailer on YouTube also says that there’ll be access to multiplayer arenas in private matches, as well as new strikes.

Players should also expect more features to come to Destiny 2 tomorrow regardless of whether they purchase Warmind or not, in version 1.2.0 of the game. This will include two new Crucible maps (you’ll need to own Warmind if you want to use these in private matches) and masterwork versions of exotic weapons.

Destiny 2: Warmind will be released tomorrow on May 8 for PC, Xbox One and PS4. You can purchase the expansion on the Destiny website here.
