Telltale’s The Walking Dead Final Season First Details Revealed at PAX East

Nostalgia was in the air today at PAX East as the cast and creators of Telltale’s The Walking Dead revealed some of the final season’s first details to the world. Clementine’s voice actress, Melissa Hutchinson, described the final season as “bittersweet, and a little painful,” so we think it’s safe to say that we’d all best be prepared to get our hearts broken again.

Last week we wrote about Telltale’s latest tease and a certain picture of Clementine that reminds us just a little too much of Lee, however despite the in-your-face parallels fans were told quite clearly that Clementine is not Lee. Considering the cruel world of The Walking Dead we’re not too sure if we should be reassured or not.

One of the first details revealed is a rather obvious time jump where Clementine is visibly older than she was last time we played her. It’s a sweet, if painful, reminder of how much time has passed since Clementine was a little girl when we first met her. This reminder is particularly agonizing as it has been revealed Clementine will find herself protecting a little boy named AJ who, unlike herself, has never known a world any different from the walkers and the brutality that comes with them.

There will also be new characters such as Louis who refuses to let go of the old world they used to know, a pragmatic survivor named Violet, and Ten who is still naive about a world with walkers in them. More importantly, however, is that there will be a dog named Rosie. What’s so important about Rosie? Telltale has confirmed that she won’t die… In the first episode anyway.

Other details were revealed during the panel, such as the style of the game. Telltale stated that the third season was “a bit too colorful,” therefore they are looking to go back to the old, worn style that is similar to The Walking Dead comics. That style will most definitely make the very first episode as bleak as possible. That’s right, Clementine is going back to school. Only it’s one full of the walking dead… Get it?
