Shadow of the Tomb Raider has seemingly had its release date leaked before its official reveal tomorrow, with September 14, 2018 set to be the date that Lara makes her return. Described as “the climactic finale of Lara’s origin story,” fans will no doubt be eager to see Square Enix allow them to take up the mantle of Lara Croft once more. Square Enix did say that it was taking “a new approach” when it came to announcing the newest game for the Tomb Raider series — perhaps the reveal tomorrow will fully explain what that different approach is.
The release date was revealed via the source code on the official Tomb Raider site, which is teasing a reveal for tomorrow, March 15. “Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the climactic finale of Lara’s origin story,” the source code reads. “Available September 14th, 2018.”
A tweet from the Tomb Raider Twitter account back in December pointed to a “major event” in 2018 regarding the franchise:

The major event could be an indication towards what Square Enix has in store for fans tomorrow, though it could also be another event further on in the year. We will just have to wait for the event tomorrow to know for certain.
Square Enix also mentions its goals to put its fans first, so perhaps fans of the absent Samantha Nishimura should keep their fingers crossed. Some were left feeling majorly bummed out with Rise of the Tomb Raider’s story, and fan favorite Sam’s absence most certainly didn’t help with that matter. But regardless if you were a fan of the previous games or not, there is one thing that most fans will be eager for Square Enix to confirm: that there will be no Xbox One timed exclusivity.
