PUBG Anti-Cheat Update Incoming, but Comes at a Cost

Cheaters, prepare yourself! There’s a PUBG anti-cheat update coming, which focuses on blocking programs that give players an unfair advantage. This will target the truly troublesome apps that make players invulnerable and able to see through walls, as well as less controversial tools like PUBG Reshade.

A lengthy update post on Steam provides the full details of what’s to come. There is now a “dedicated team [focusing] on combating cheat programs.” This new team will be making use of a new PUBG anti-cheat solution, which is currently being used on the game’s Test Servers. (If you’re on PC, you can try out this build right now!)

The full release of the new PUBG anti-cheat is expected to hit live servers next week. It will begin by blocking “unauthorized programs,” but will evolve to “broaden the scope of its abilities.”

PUBG Reshade users will be sad to hear that they will no longer be able to take advantage of the program, as the new PUBG anti-cheat will “also block different helper programs that alter the graphics or aid in gameplay in some way.”

Following the update next week, it’s possible that “some programs [which] do not affect gameplay may be blocked temporarily.” If you’re running any type of overlay, or system monitoring software, do be wary, as those could force the game to crash.

PUBG cheaters are a huge problem, and this is a promising step towards stopping them. In a game where you invest a lot of time into landing, grabbing weapons, and surviving for 20-30 minutes, it’s especially devastating to die to someone using cheats. Here’s to a fairer PUBG experience!
