Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date Delayed to October

Hold onto your cowboy hats, folks, because we’ve lassoed ourselves another delay. Once again, the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date has been pushed back. What was once a target of spring 2018, has now changed to October 26, 2018.

In a press release today, Rockstar Games announced the new Red Dead Redemption release date, offering an apology to those disappointed by the delay.

Here’s the full message:

“Dear All,

We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.

With thanks,

Rockstar Games”

To help soften the blow of another delay, Rockstar has released a few screenshots showing different characters in varying degrees of action. They’re nice, but they don’t quite scratch the itch that the promised spring 2018 release would!

I suppose it’s better to get a polished product than to get a rushed release, and so I think most players will be happy waiting. It’s just a shame that we’ll be left twiddling our thumbs for the rest of this year, eagerly anticipating getting our hands on it.

So, once again, the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date has been pushed back to October 26, 2018, in the name of “polish.” Let’s hope that’s some damn good polish!
