Sony Will Not Cut Vita’s Price In 2012

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Shuhei Yoshida of Worldwide Studios said that even though the Sony engineers are working toward a method of reducing manufacturing costs of the Vita, there will not be a price cut before the end of 2012.

Yoshida instead hopes that Vita bundles with games like LittleBigPlanet and Call of Duty will be enough to intrigue potential buyers.

"Of course, cost reduction is one area our engineering team is working on. But we just launched the platform earlier this year. It takes time to do so," he said. "At a certain point in the future we would like to address the pricing issue for some of the people who are waiting. But this year we are trying to add value by creating different types of bundles."

So what about the Vita's software problem? If you aren't going to cut the price of the Vita, don't you need software outside of bundles to encourage buyers? Yoshida acknowledged this concern as well, and he said that adding new games is a top priority for the Vita.

That's great and all, but we need to see this software priority in action, don't you think? That aside, do you think LBP for the Vita and CoD are enough to drive sales?
