Friday the 13th: The Game Devs Condone Team-Killing Glitchers – Even by Glitching

Are you looking to get instant Reddit Karma? The formula is easy. First, buy and play Friday the 13th: The Game, the asymmetrical 1v7 multiplayer game that pits Jason Vorhees versus seven Camp Crystal Lake counselors. Then record a video of yourself playing a counselor and team-killing any fellow counselors who take advantage of the popular glitch that allows counselors to reach unintended locations – such as building roofs – that Jason can’t reach, thus breaking the game. Finally, post this video, with a snarky title to r/F13TheGame.

Friday the 13th: The Game‘s official sub-Reddit eats those posts for breakfast, lunch and dinner (and sometimes dessert and fourth-meal, if they’re hungry enough). This clip below, for example, was upvoted more than 350 times, not a bad chunk of Karma for a day’s work.

But, after Gun Media announced that people who take advantage of this glitch will be permanently banned while they continue to work on patches to remove it, this raised an interesting question: what if I want to exact vigilante justice on these glitchers by team-killing them but I have to use the same glitches they’re using in order to pull that off?

Don’t worry, Gun Media has your back. When asked on Twitter about this situation, game creator Wes Keltner said “Reporting the player with images is ideal. However, I’d say you’re doing gods [sic] work” before checking with the rest of his team to confirm. In response, the official Friday the 13th: The Game Twitter account simply said “He good.” You can see the whole exchange below:

Gun Media announced that they have already permanently banned more than 300 accounts for violation their newly-released terms of service, but, if you’re just out to “do God’s work,” as Keltner puts it, you won’t be added to that list. So, good vigilantes of the Friday the 13th: The Game community, you are free to glitch in the name of ending the lives of glitchers without the fear of getting banned. Happy hunting.
