If you thought Pokémon GO had run out of steam, well, you'd be woefully mistaken. The Pokémon Company and Google-owned developer Niantic revealed today that the app is far from finished, with an additional 80 monsters on the way later this week, ripe for the catching.
The monsters in question hail from the series' Johto region, the setting most players associate with the second-generation Gold and Silver editions of the Pokémon RPGs. This of course includes the classic starters Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile, among many many others. The video below recaps what players can reasonably expect. I'm pretty sure I spotted a Crobat in there somwhere, and as such I must have it.

Of course, the release doesn't come without official comment from Niantic, which you can view below.

This was always in the cards of course – with over 700 monsters in its reserve stables, Pokémon GO is simply rolling them out at a slow but steady pace to hold the interest of the app's global trainer contingent. Generation III is my personal favorite, so call me when I can catch a Wailord in real life, Niantic.
