FromSoftware Confirms Armored Core, Another “Weird” Title, and Possibilities of a Dark Souls Title

While the Dark Souls series remains on hiatus, at least for now, FromSoftware has confirmed in a roundtable interview as reported by Kotaku that the developer is working on several other titles.

The Armored Core series will be making a triumphant return, after Armored Core: Verdict Day (2013) on PS3 and Xbox 360, though FromSoftware head Hidetaka Miyazaki says that details on the game are "early."

Apart from that, FromSoftware is working on a title whose "genre might be a little weird," but wants to ensure fans that they are "diligently making it in all seriousness" despite it being strange.

As for Dark Souls, Miyazaki is staying true to his original statement on the seminal series, saying that while there's nothing that he thinks he can do to expand the franchise, he won't mind if "another staff member wants to make a Dark Souls."

That would certainly be a tall order for any developer to take on, but given that the series has been responsible for making FromSotware a leading, trend-setting developer in the field, I suspect that a new Dark Souls and/or perhaps Bloodborne 2 will be on the horizon eventually.
