Nintendo 3DS Right Circle Pad Leaks Out Ahead of Announcement

This thing sticks out like a sore thumb.

In what just might be the stupidest-looking handheld peripheral ever, Nintendo's right-circle pad attachment for the Nintendo 3DS has leaked out ahead of the press event scheduled for next week. It's what we had feared the most: A giant attachment that lends the 3DS a second circle pad (see: gimped analog stick), effectively splitting the 3DS user base into two groups.

Developers that tailor their games to utilize the second circle pad risk leaving any 3DS owners without the circle pad attachment with their thumbs up their ass twiddling their thumbs. It they don't use it, they're selling their games short of what the 3DS and circle pad attachment combined are capable of.

It's enormous, too. It looks ridiculous. It's like when a hot girl you know has the grossest zit you've ever seen. She's all like "is it bad"? And you're all like "you can barely notice it" when really you're wishing you wore a raincoat in case that thing happens to pop.

Which is why we wouldn't at all be surprised to see a completely redesigned 3DS announced at Nintendo's pre-Tokyo Game Show press event that features the right-circle pad built-in. By doing that, Nintendo will be giving a huge fuck you to all current 3DS owners.

Lowering your price by $80, that'll piss people off, but they'll get over it. Especially if you throw free games at them. Forcing them to use a giant, ugly attachment on their compact, sleek system, or redesigning the 3DS that dramatically so soon after its release? Nintendo better batten down the hatch and board up their windows, an angry mob is on their way.
